(artist statement)
"In my artistic practice I am interested in urban spaces and how they are altered by human presence. I investigate how vandalism is being treated in specific areas, how and where traces are left and how they are being removed.
The public space is being changed visually through superficial damages that mostly occur unwillingly. With this is mind I analyse not only the various actors of the urban space like constructions sites and vandalism but also industrial sites in Luxembourg that changed the cultural landscape and identity of the Greater Region.
By using found objects that are directly extracted from the urban space I develop bodies of works that oscillate between sculpture, painting, environment, archive and installation. In this process I am guided by the painterly eye for composition and color, as well as the haptic qualities of the materials I find. This symbiosis creates fragmented assemblages and combinations that function as painterly interventions and contemporary witnesses of an abstract urban space."
